West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory spent three days being trained by Skyline Diagnostics
Two Clinical Scientists from the West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory, Birmingham Women's NHS Foundation Trust spent three days being trained by Skyline Diagnostics.
The scientists performed a pilot trial using Skyline Diagnostics AMLprofiler™ on specially selected AML patient samples to validate the use of the AMLprofiler™ on their own patients.
The technical training was given by our Field Specialist & Technical Trainer, Linda de Quartel, and is designed to address all technical aspects of the procedure. The three day training is the actual timeline to perform the AMLprofiler™ assay. The timeline can be divided into four steps; sample collection, preparation, set-up and processing and automated data processing.
The scientists experienced the three days as following;
In general they found the training to be comprehensive, hands-on and the protocol was well written. The schedule was well planned and the trainer very patient. In their opinion the training lived up to their expectations, was ‘spot on’ and had a nice flow to it. The procedure fits nicely in a normal working day and is easily reproducible. They have no reservations to perform this procedure in their own lab.
The added value of using the AMLprofiler™ is that it provides a large amount of clinically relevant information in a very short time scale.
They think that multiplexing is the way forward, and for their laboratory in particular the added value will be that the AMLprofiler™ replaces lots of different tests so therefore it saves time and is efficient besides being robust and quick.
Quote:” Skyline Diagnostics have been generous, very friendly and welcoming. Everyone is happy to answer all our questions. They are a good team of people and we would like to say a special thanks to Linda, she is a natural trainer.”
From Skyline Diagnostics point of few it was very valuable to learn about the procedures at the facilities of West Midlands Regional Genetics Laboratory. We are very much looking forward to the results of the pilot training. More news about this will be posted shortly.
