Ruud Delwel
Ruud received his MSc in Biology at the University of Leiden in 1983. In 1990, he received his PhD with honors at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His promoter was professor Löwenberg and his thesis focused on the characterization of human acute myeloid leukemia cells. In 1992, he received a KWF Research fellowship and an NWO-NATO fellowship to become a postdoctoral fellow at the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee, YS. In 1993, he became a fellow of the Royal Dutch Academy of Science and Arts and assistant professor at the department of Hematology of the Erasmus University Medical Center. Since 1999, he is associate professor at this department and investigates genetic defects involved in transformation of Acute Myeloid Leukemia cells. He received stipends from the NKB/KWF and NWO and has published in various international scientific journals of high impact.
